Become a Member

Becoming a member of Toastmasters International can be completed in five easy steps:

1. Be Our Guest

The best way to find out if Toastmasters is right for you is to simply show up for one of the club meetings. As a guest you will view how meetings are run, participate in introductions, give comments on the meeting itself, and if time allows – you may be called upon to participate in Table Topics. (You may decline to speak at any time for any reason–many of us have declined to speak at our fist few meetings.)

2. Ask Questions, Get Answers

You will find that each of the Toastmaster clubs in Nevada County are friendly and welcoming. Feel free to ask any of the members a question about their experiences and how the program works.

3. Sign Up

At each of the meetings you should receive a packet of information about becoming a Toastmaster. Included in these packets is a membership form. If you’re ready to join, fill out the form and turn it in to the club Vice President Membership!

4. Get Voted In, Get Inducted, Get a Mentor

After the paperwork has been sorted out, the club votes to have you become a member. Because this is a member driven organization this is an important step. Once voted in, you will go through a brief ceremony where the cub will pledge to support you and you will meet your mentor who will help you through your first speeches and your leadership growth.

5. Receive Your Manuals and Give Your Ice-Breaker Speech

Shortly after the club turns in your paperwork you will receive your Competent Communicator Manual and your Competent Leadership Manual as well as some additional goodies from Toastmasters International. These manuals as well as the support of your mentor and fellow club members provide the foundation of your Toastmasters experience.
